2020 – Year in review and what to expect in 2021!

2020 – The Year In Review!

No question 2020 was a momentous year that will go down in history as an unforgettable year for MANY reasons for sure! Unfortunately, for too many and understandably so, they’d love nothing more than to just say good riddance, and forget it. I however would like to focus on the positive. For me, the year was sort of a push.

While, the pandemic did take a toll on my immediate and extended family (More than half of us tested positive at some point in the year) Thankfully it wasn’t TOO bad and all but one family member is still not completely out of the woods. But for the most part everyone else is doing well now and we’re very optimistic that the last family member still dealing with it is going to pull through just fine. *Fingers crossed!*

2020 for me personally and in my writing endeavors was a positive one. After two years of being on hiatus for personal reasons, I’m baaaaaaaack!

In case you missed any of it I put out two FREE not so short stories. The first Blindside – About Noah and Roni. Read the blurb and get all the FREE download links by clicking on the cover below!

Then I put out the much requested story of Max and Pat. Mind you this was a story I put off writing for YEARS because I just didn’t think I could romanticize Romero’s incorrigible uncle and Izzy’s uptight sister. And then it happened! It was as hilarious as expected and a surprisingly fun, exciting and sexy story to write. I DID however use some MUCH needed inspirational pictures to help me make these two a sexy couple as I wrote. I give you Max and Pat. Click the photo below for the FREE download links to their story “Tall, Dark & Obnoxious.”

Midway through the year, I FINALLY got around to releasing the MUCH anticipated, almost three years in the making full length 4th and final novel in my Boyle Heights, Orlando. Click on the cover below for the blurb, info and purchase links!

Then I got to a story that had been in my heart calling out and begging to be written for YEARS. The epic saga and love story of the Moreno’s parents. Their journey to realize their dream of coming to America and opening their own restaurant. By no means was it that cut and dry and you might shed a few tears along the way but I promise you in the end, you’ll be glad you read it. At least going by the reviews so far I can say that with confidence! Click on the cover below for more info, blurb and purchase links!

So what can you expect this year? Well for starters I’ve introduced my new and upcoming series “A New Generation” it’s one I’ve been talking about for a while now and am VERY excited to bring you. A New Generation will include the stories of the Moreno Brother’s AND 5th Street kids. There will be cross overs and such from my other series and I revealed the cover to the first in the series “Not Even Close” on New Years eve. In case you missed it! Click on the beautiful cover below for more info and to add to your Goodreads TBR shelf now!

What else can you expect from 2021?

Well aside from this new series, I’ll finally be getting back to some unfinished business. Expect more from the Cortez brothers, of the Looking Glass series, and more of the De Luca Boys! Plus I might have some bonus shorts and other surprises up my sleeve! Expect to be excited this year for sure! I’m looking forward to it, I hope you are too!!

When two unlikely paths cross . . . compatibility seems improbable.

Adrift in a foul-mouthed world of ass kicking to survive life on the tough streets of Boyle Heights, Lila is anything but a refined girlie girl. Fighting tooth and nail for those she loves has left her with a chip on her shoulder as big as the gloves on her fists.

After years of being surrounded by glamorous glitzy women, Sonny didn’t even realize how much he’s yearned for someone of real substance. So, when he meets the unapologetic, sexy-as-hell Lila, her in-your-face candor awakens something in him he’s never felt before.

Despite Lila’s suspicions about Sonny’s intentions, the two begin a seemingly innocent, yet deliciously dangerous, online flirtation as his business keeps him away a lot.

The more their rapidly growing connection intensifies, the more Lila feels Sonny is too perfect to be true. But when she’s blindsided by the truth about who Sonny really is . . .

Compatibility suddenly feels impossible.

I’ve even had a few select readers from my team read it along with all my usual beta readers and they were all VERY excited. Since I did share the blurb to this one in a takeover I did recently I can share the title and blurb now. But the Cover reveal is yet to come in early 2017!

Girl In The Mirror

A girl without a past.

Margaret Hellman awoke in a hospital with no memory of the horrific accident that claimed the lives of her sister and their best friend.

After years of struggling to regain a fraction of her memories, Maggie is left with no choice but to accept her past is gone. Despite the tormenting void in her heart.

Then the triggers start.

Tiny indiscernible but profoundly emotional glimpses of her past. The day she meets him at her sister’s graveside sets off the most explosive trigger to date. It’s so overwhelming Maggie’s convinced she’s supposed to remember—she needs to.

As the puzzling pieces of her past start to come together, it’s clear something’s amiss. But nothing can prepare her for the shocking reality of what really happened that fateful day seven years ago.

Girl in the Mirror is a psychological romantic suspense with a twist you’ll NEVER see coming!

Rage update, short teaser and MORE!

The verdict is in from the beta readers about . .

rage

For the first time ever my beta readers were speechless!

Well sort of. I have some pretty awesome beta readers who

are not shy about speaking  up when something just didn’t

work for them, confused them, angered them  or if they

needed more of this or less of that. There’s always a

wonderful mix of opinions. In this case the consensus  was

pretty unanimous all around. They LOVED it and they

really couldn’t think of anything they’d change. This is a

direct quote from one of my most outspoken.

“Man. Such drama. ??

I really can’t think of anything I would change at

the moment. Of course I just finished it and am on a

book high. Even the ??????? early on is nothing to

really bother changing. You’re story is so full of

depth and emotion. Much like Felix’s story. I loved

it. I’m not even sure it needs an epilogue. That

ending was fabulous!”

??

Happy dance

What’s next?

They did have a few small change suggestions that I agreed with completely. So now I go back and tweak accordingly. I still have the epilogue to write. I’ll have them read it. Get their thoughts and once it’s all done it’s off to the editor. I’m way ahead of schedule this time. My deadline isn’t until end of next month which is when my editor will be able to get to it UNLESS she has an earlier opening. Which is why I haven’t set a release date yet. Because it COULD be ready to go live a lot sooner than the (end of 2015) originally anticipated release date.

In the mean time how about a little tease of a *teaser?

Set up: This is very early on in the story. AJ isn’t sure what’s going on yet with his feelings for Addison. But in pure Romero style he makes things very clear to his teammates what he will not tolerate from them when it comes to the coaches daughter. 😉

*Disclaimer: Unedited, strong language.

One of the days in Boston during batting practice the coach excused himself to take a call from Addison. He’d mentioned earlier how she and Clair would be meeting him and his wife at their next stop in Toronto against the Blue Jays. They’d be taking that trip to Niagara Falls Clair had originally asked for her birthday.

AJ was supposed to be concentrating on warming up to bat next. Up until then he’d been doing good, beyond good with his short fuse. He’d made excellent progress in keeping his cool on and off the field. But the continued whispers about Addison had begun to make chip away into the wall of patience he’d worked so hard to build for years. Festering thoughts of what Addison’s eyes that close up had done to him and the unreasonable annoyance he’d felt when he’d seen Travis get so close to her weren’t helping either. He couldn’t even look at the guy now without feeling irritated. Not just at Travis but at himself for getting so worked up over a girl he hardly knew.

Biggs, one of several guys standing by him said something that got his attention. “Umm, mmm, coaches daughter.”

AJ had instantly stopped swinging the bat and turned to him. “What about her?”
“Who knew she had all that going on?” Biggs said shaking his head.

AJ gripped the bat feeling his insides heat as he peered at him but said nothing.
